Job Title: Clinical Director - Pre-Hospital Care and Event Medicine

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Clinical Director to lead our clinical teams of over 2,000 first aiders and Healthcare Professionals providing training in communities and medical care on behalf of the NHS as well as at over 400 events across Wales each year.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight across St John Ambulance Cymru, ensuring high quality care is delivered by everyone trained by or wearing the badge of St John.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures in line with legislation and global standards, providing clinical advice and leadership in the implementation of policy and professional standards.
  • Lead the stakeholder management of clinical partners such as the General Medical Council, medical Royal Colleges, College of Paramedics, Royal College of Nursing, Health and Care Professions Council, NHS Wales.
  • Deliver good clinical governance, including regular clinical quality improvement and a process of risk management and adverse event reporting.
  • Support the development of the Risk Management Strategy & Framework with ownership of the clinical risk and associated incidents.
  • Advise upon academic activity across St John Ambulance Cymru, stimulating research in areas relevant to the Charity, and advising on the implications of published research in our areas of interest.
  • Provide oversight and assurance that the delivery of clinical education and training to First Aiders is based on the latest evidence.
  • Act as an advocate for high quality evidence-based compassionate care within St John Ambulance Cymru and as an ambassador externally.
  • Develop a comprehensive clinical strategy that supports the St John Ambulance Cymru strategic plan and enhances organisational performance.
