We are delighted to partner with Marwell Wildlife to recruit an experienced Financial Director to join their Executive team, reporting directly to the CEO. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to the Finance team and develop a financial strategy in support of the organisational strategy.
Key Responsibilities- To provide strategic leadership to the Finance team and work with the CEO to develop and implement a financial strategy in support of the organisational strategy.
- To build key relationships with external stakeholders, including donors and financial institutions, as well as internal stakeholders, including the executive team, the Head of Fundraising, and the Board of Trustees.
- To be instrumental in the budgeting process and complete long-term financial planning and forecasting.
- To work with the executive on capital development proposals, calculating ROI forecasts, and ensuring delivery of capital projects to budget.
Financial Dimensions: Budgeted income is around £12,000,000 per annum.
Requirements- To be a qualified accountant or have a financial qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- To have experience in running a sizeable financial department at senior level and within an organisation of comparable scale and complexity.
- To have commercial awareness of complex organisations or companies.
- To have an effective track record in people management/team leadership, including coaching, inspiring, and empowering others.
- Ideally, to have charity SORP experience or from within the voluntary sector.
- To have experience of dealing with restricted income.
- To have experience of tax management.
- To have superb systems experience.
This role will involve high-level conversations internally and externally, with a focus on the broader picture of the organisation. It is not a hands-on, day-to-day accountant role, but rather a strategic position requiring a fast-paced approach, risk assessment, investment options, and capital development proposals. The successful candidate will sit next to the CEO and provide financial opinion at a senior level, demonstrating building relationships with donors and financial institutions. They will be able to enable the CEO to take calculated risks.
This is an exciting time for Marwell, and the successful candidate will be part of the organisation helping to move it forward.
