Job Title: Regional Director of Apprenticeship Delivery

Location: Hybrid (with extensive travel across the region)



Reports to: National Director of Delivery



Direct Reports: Regional Delivery Teams and Training Centre Supervisors



We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Regional Director of Apprenticeship Delivery to lead the successful delivery of apprenticeship programmes within a defined region. This role will require a strong leader to manage multiple high-performing teams, ensuring apprentices receive the best possible learner experience.



The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large teams across different locations, be familiar with work-based learning environments, and have experience in improving performance metrics, such as pass rates for apprenticeships.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Regional Strategy: Develop and implement a business plan for the region that aligns with national goals, including the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial targets.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage teams across the region, ensuring a standardized and high-quality learner journey.
  • Performance Improvement: Focus on improving first-time pass rates for end-point assessments, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to support apprenticeship recruitment and optimize learner intake.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards of delivery in line with national guidelines, particularly around safeguarding and learner progress.
  • Employer Engagement: Maintain regular communication with employers to ensure they are informed of their apprentices' progress.
  • Resource Optimization: Maximize the use of regional training centres and reduce reliance on subcontracted provision.
  • Commercial Development: Collaborate with relevant partners to use excess capacity in training centres for commercial opportunities.
  • Subcontractor Management: Oversee the performance of subcontractors in the region, conducting regular reviews and intervening when necessary.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships with key national and regional stakeholders, attending relevant events and committees to promote the organisation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in processes and practices, sharing best practices across the organisation.
  • Leadership: Act as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to national strategies and leading key improvement projects as needed.


Key Requirements:


  • Qualifications: Educated to HNC level or equivalent, with a strong foundation in Math and English (GCSEs or equivalent).
  • Experience: Proven experience in managing large, geographically dispersed teams, with responsibility for meeting performance targets.
  • IT Skills: Strong proficiency in using IT systems, particularly for performance monitoring.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Driving License: Must hold a valid driving license.
  • Regional Knowledge: Must reside within the region you will be managing.
  • Industry Expertise: Working knowledge or experience in work-based learning and government-funded training programmes.
