Job Role: Teaching Assistant for Specialist Needs
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant for Specialist Needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with autism and severe or profound learning disabilities in a Specialist Teaching Facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide support for pupils with additional learning needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
- Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of pupils.
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Promote self-esteem and independence.
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
- Provide detailed and regular feedback to the teacher on pupils' progress.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtime.
Requirements:
- Experience of working with children with autism and/or severe or profound learning disabilities.
- A confident and friendly personality.
- Resilience to overcome challenges.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Demonstrate empathy and care for the children and young people they work with.
