Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator to support our Health, Safety and Environment Manager and Operations Teams in driving the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Health, Safety and Environmental program. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safety, health, and environmental improvement activities, and providing expert advice and coaching in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a Health, Safety and Environmental strategy in collaboration with the HSE Manager.
  • Provide guidance, support, and leadership to operational management and employees on health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Support the HSE Manager in fostering a strong safety culture, promoting awareness, and encouraging a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Conduct regular site safety tours, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Work with line managers and employees to ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are prepared and reviewed as necessary.
  • Monitor the implementation of the Company's HSE policies and procedures, and report any concerns to the HSE Manager.
  • Recommend measures to protect employees from potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, and ventilation surveys.
  • Manage the Integrated Management System (IMS) related to safety, health, environment, and quality.
  • Control and distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure its proper use.
  • Coordinate the induction of new staff and update presentations used for training.
  • Support the HSE Manager in coordinating site-specific and Group Health and Safety Committees.
  • Stay up-to-date with Health and Safety and Environmental legislation changes and update relevant policies accordingly.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the FMCG/Food Manufacturing industry.
  • Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject and IOSH certification.
  • NEBOSH and IEMA certification is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and procedures, and ability to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Experience in delivering training and coaching, writing and reviewing management system procedures, and conducting workplace audits and inspections.
  • Strong drive and desire to achieve results.
  • Pragmatic and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Root cause analysis and commercial awareness.
