Job PurposeWe are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator to support our Health, Safety and Environment Manager and Operations Teams in driving the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Health, Safety and Environmental program. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safety, health, and environmental improvement activities, and providing expert advice and coaching in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a Health, Safety and Environmental strategy in collaboration with the HSE Manager.
- Provide guidance, support, and leadership to operational management and employees on health, safety, and environmental matters.
- Support the HSE Manager in fostering a strong safety culture, promoting awareness, and encouraging a proactive approach to risk management.
- Investigate incidents and accidents to identify causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
- Conduct regular site safety tours, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Work with line managers and employees to ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are prepared and reviewed as necessary.
- Monitor the implementation of the Company's HSE policies and procedures, and report any concerns to the HSE Manager.
- Recommend measures to protect employees from potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, and ventilation surveys.
- Manage the Integrated Management System (IMS) related to safety, health, environment, and quality.
- Control and distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ensure the induction of new staff and update presentations used for training purposes.
- Coordinate site-specific and Group Health and Safety Committees, ensuring participation from management and elected representatives.
- Support the HSE Manager in preparing submissions for governmental agencies, such as the Environment Agency.
- Stay up-to-date with Health and Safety and Environmental legislation changes and update relevant policies accordingly.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the FMCG/Food Manufacturing industry.
- Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject and IOSH certification.
- NEBOSH and IEMA certification is desirable but not essential.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and procedures, with the ability to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
- Experience in delivering training and coaching, writing and reviewing management system procedures, and conducting workplace audits and inspections.
