About the Role

The Sleights and Sandsend Medical Practice is seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Receptionist to join our team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system to ensure efficient scheduling and minimize wait times.
  • Process personal, telephone, and e-requests for appointments, ensuring accurate and timely communication with patients.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's request appropriately, providing a professional and courteous service.
  • Signpost patients to the correct service, ensuring they receive the necessary support and care.
  • Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies, maintaining effective communication channels.
  • Read code data on EMIS, accurately processing and updating patient information.
  • Photocopy documentation as required, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary, maintaining up-to-date and accurate records.
  • Direct requests for information, such as SAR, insurance/solicitors letters, and DVLA forms, to the administrative team, ensuring efficient processing and response.
  • Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner, including EMIS tasks and emails, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Complete and log the daily fridge temperature and monthly data logging on TeamNet, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out system searches as requested, providing accurate and timely information to support patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and effective working area at all times, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards, ensuring a welcoming and informative environment for patients.
  • Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested, providing administrative support to ensure smooth operations.

We provide services to residents of Sleights, Whitby, and surrounding villages, with a branch surgery at Sandsend.
