About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. As a Senior Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and work closely with the pharmacy stores team to ensure accurate and efficient receipt of medicines.
  • Carry out routine tasks including, stock top-ups, supply and distribution to wards and departments in accordance with policies and procedures under supervision of technicians and pharmacists.
  • Undertake Pharmacy Assistant duties as required to meet the needs of the service.
  • Undertake related filing.
  • Assist technical and professional staff in undertaking audit and review of systems.
  • Participate in training new assistants and students.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in a hospital or community pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of working with the public.
  • Experience of working with the public.
  • NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services (or Equivalent) as recognized by the GPHC.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to take instructions from more senior members of staff.
  • Ability to recognise pharmaceutical names.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Participation in the training of others.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Good verbal communication - face to face.
  • Good verbal communication - telephone.
  • Good written communication.
