Job Title: Senior Pharmacy Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join our pharmacy team at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will be responsible for supervising and working closely with the pharmacy stores team to ensure accurate and efficient receipt of medicines.

You will be required to carry out routine tasks, including stock top-ups, supply and distribution to wards and departments in accordance with policies and procedures under supervision of technicians and pharmacists.

As a Senior Pharmacy Assistant, you will be expected to undertake Pharmacy Assistant duties as required to meet the needs of the service, including undertaking related filing and assisting technical and professional staff in undertaking audit and review of systems.

You will also be required to participate in training new assistants and students, and to work as part of a team to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and work closely with the pharmacy stores team to ensure accurate and efficient receipt of medicines.
  • Carry out routine tasks, including stock top-ups, supply and distribution to wards and departments in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Undertake Pharmacy Assistant duties as required to meet the needs of the service.
  • Undertake related filing and assist technical and professional staff in undertaking audit and review of systems.
  • Participate in training new assistants and students.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Experience of working in a pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of working with the public.
  • Experience of working with the public.
  • NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services (or Equivalent) as recognized by the GPHC.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under own initiative.
  • Ability to work in an organized, timely and safe manner.
