Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Biomedical Support Worker. This exciting opportunity will involve working in a fast-paced laboratory environment, where you will be responsible for the reception, processing, and data entry of clinical specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work throughout all sections of the department on a rotational basis, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of laboratory operations.
  • Process a range of clinical specimens, including swabs, body fluids, and blood samples, with attention to detail and adherence to quality control procedures.
  • Assist with the setup of routine automated and manual laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the quality management of the laboratory, participating in quality control procedures and audits as required.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively in a team environment and as an individual. A high degree of motivation and enthusiasm is essential, as is the ability to plan and use own time economically and effectively.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of laboratory areas and be able to work day and late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays. A working knowledge of laboratory bench areas is desirable.
