Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. As a Biomedical Scientist, you will play a critical role in providing a comprehensive 7-day service covering bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, serology, and parasitology, as well as molecular testing.

Main Duties

As a Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for rotating across various sections of the laboratory, including bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, serology, and parasitology, and molecular testing. You will work shifts on a 24/7 rota system, including weekend and bank holiday working, and early/day/late/night shifts. You will also be required to handle chemicals according to COSHH regulations, deal with spillage of samples/chemicals in a safe and appropriate manner, and use laboratory equipment safely in accordance with local and manufacturers guidelines.
