Job Title: Band 5-6 Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. As a Biomedical Scientist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to support patient care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a range of laboratory tests and analyses to support the diagnosis and management of patients.
  • Interpret clinical request forms and exercise judgment regarding work to be performed and priority relating to clinical urgency.
  • Handle a range of body fluids, tissue samples, and other infectious materials according to category II containment procedures.
  • Use laboratory equipment safely in accordance with local and manufacturers' guidelines.
Requirements:
  • IBMS accredited BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
  • IBMS Specialist Diploma in Medical Microbiology or Virology (from 2005) or working towards this qualification.
  • Professional registration with HCPC.
  • Ability to plan and use your own time economically and effectively.
Working Arrangements:

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. You will be required to work shifts on a 24/7 rota system, including weekend and bank holiday working, and early/day/late/night shifts.
