Sustainability and Health & Safety Manager

Our client is a market-leading events management company that delivers high-quality services to prestigious sporting events and festivals. They are seeking a Sustainability and Health & Safety Manager to drive sustainability to the next level and develop a company-wide robust and commercially viable sustainability strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainability and health & safety, with the ability to get others on board. They will be responsible for in-house sustainability, working with the Senior Management Team to establish baselines and set sustainability KPI's. They will also work with internal stakeholders to investigate sustainable dietary options and provide suggestions to the appropriate divisions within the business.

The role involves developing and implementing a company-wide sustainability strategy, including projects to improve operational sustainability and drive change within the business and with key stakeholders. The Sustainability and Health & Safety Manager will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Group's Health & Safety policy.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing and implementing a company-wide robust and commercially viable sustainability strategy.
  • Working with the Senior Management Team to establish baselines and set sustainability KPI's.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the company's sustainability objectives, providing reports to evaluate the progress and outcomes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Integrating sustainability requirements into procurement processes to ensure that new suppliers meet the required standards.
  • Contribute to the tender process by demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and how their practices reduce the impact on the environment.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to investigate sustainable dietary options and provide suggestions to the appropriate divisions within the business.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to share and embed best practices into every area, establishing a steering committee and improving business-wide understanding of sustainability.
  • Being the primary operational lead for all health and safety strategy, processes, activities, and queries.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE strategies to improve standards in line with industry best practices and actively promoting a safety culture.
  • Working with each operational Division to ensure HSE processes are embedded.
  • Arranging and carrying out site safety and environmental audits and safety inspections, working with third parties as required. Maintaining comprehensive records of audits and inspections and ensuring any actions are implemented.
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and venues to ensure management and implementation of safety procedures.
  • Ensuring Company policies and practices are regularly updated to comply with all aspects of current UK H&S legislation.
  • Identifying future H&S and sustainability legislation and government requirements and assessing the effect on business.
