Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Wellbeing Specialist to join our dedicated team at Leeds City Council.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people in Leeds. As a Child Wellbeing Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering a psychological service to schools and settings across the city, promoting inclusion and improving outcomes for children with special educational needs (SEN).

You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to identify and address the needs of individual children, using your expertise in applied psychology to develop targeted interventions and strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality psychological assessments and interventions to support children with SEN
  • Develop and implement tailored plans to improve outcomes for children with complex needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to promote inclusive practices and remove barriers to learning
  • Provide training and advice to schools and settings on SEN policies and procedures
  • Work with families and carers to support their understanding of their child's needs and develop effective partnerships

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree in psychology or a related field
  • A postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology or equivalent experience
  • Eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
