Are you a motivated and experienced pharmacy technician looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician Procurement Specialist to join our team at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the procurement team and be responsible for the development of our procurement services. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the dispensary staff at Redwoods site.

You will also be responsible for providing technical leadership on procurement in collaboration with the procurement team (Technicians and Pharmacist) across all sites. This includes effectively communicating with pharmaceutical wholesalers, manufacturers, homecare companies and external agencies to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement and supply of medicines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide technical leadership on procurement in collaboration with the procurement team (Technicians and Pharmacist) across all sites.
  2. Day-to-day management and leadership of the dispensary staff at Redwoods site.
  3. Effectively communicate with pharmaceutical wholesalers, manufacturers, homecare companies and external agencies to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement and supply of medicines.
  4. Communicate with pharmacy staff, other healthcare professionals and external customers on a wide range of queries relating to procurement of medicines and homecare including changes to contracts.
  5. Attend and participate in regional pharmacy procurement meetings and adjudication meetings regarding the tendering of medicines and services.
  6. Lead the local dispensary team in providing a range of pharmacy medicines supply and advice services.
  7. Perform the role of an experienced, registered, pharmacy technician including the provision of advice, supervision, mentoring with staff members under their direct line management (all technical staff).
Person Specification
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures for specialist area to degree or equivalent level acquired through training, NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent.
  • Nationally recognised accredited checking technician certificate.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
