Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom University of Birmingham Full time
Key Responsibilities

As Director of Learning Environments, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a cohesive and innovative approach to education technologies and learning environments at the University of Birmingham.

You will work closely with stakeholders to develop a vision and roadmap for education technologies and learning environments, ensuring that technologies are optimally utilised to support education delivery.

The creation of a new team, bringing together existing services and co-ordinating education-relevant technical and digital functions across IT Services and Academic Services, is a key aspect of this role.

You will provide strategic contributions to the University's digital education strategy, working with colleagues from IT Services, Estates and other relevant professional services divisions to define and deliver capital projects that deliver new teaching and learning spaces.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing the service budget and resources efficiently and effectively, including institutional budgets for the maintenance and management of teaching and learning spaces.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the education sector, with substantial experience in and knowledge of teaching and learning technologies, as well as commercial acumen and the ability to understand sector context.

Additionally, you will be able to lead successful transformation change and development, and deliver business change using different approaches dependent on the context.

A track record of programme or project leadership and delivery, ideally including experience of project and performance management, is also essential.

The ability to think and act strategically, develop and communicate a compelling vision for the future of the new unit, and prioritise effort and resources accordingly, is critical to this role.
