Welcome to Snowfields Academy, a new secondary provision for students with ASD, where we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team. Our academy opened in September 2020 and offers 140 places across year groups 7-13 for young people who are working at or close to age-related expectations.
We believe that every student deserves a personalized approach to learning, which is why we have designed our teaching kitchen, servery, and cafe, as well as internal and external horticulture facilities, to support our students into employment. Our state-of-the-art environment supports specialisms in horticulture and catering, and we work closely with local businesses to offer an outstanding range of work experience opportunities and supported internships.
As a member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting teachers to deliver academic excellence, day in, day out, with professionalism and enthusiasm. This will involve providing a comprehensive support service to the academy, including:
- Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe working environment, ensuring that equipment/resources/materials are set out on time and used safely to enable pupils meet their learning targets.
- Assisting teachers with learning activities, ensuring health and safety and good behaviour of pupils, including off-site activities such as trips, swimming, and work experience.
- Supporting pupils in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher, enabling pupils' progression towards their targets and promoting equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
- Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, treating them with respect and consideration.
You will also provide expertise to deliver a personalized curriculum for each pupil's learning, working together with families and other agencies to ensure every pupil is valued, challenged, and supported. As part of our team, you will inspire and engage our children, delivering a quality, inclusive education, and creating a learning environment where barriers to learning are overcome and students feel safe and happy and are ready to learn.
In return, we offer a competitive salary of £17,944 per annum (£24,404 full-time equivalent), based on 31.63 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9.15am - 4pm with 4.45pm finish every other Wednesday). We believe in investing in our staff's professional development, offering ample opportunities for collaboration and growth within the Leigh Academies Trust community.
