About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Specialist Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team in North Camden Rehab and Recovery Team. As a key member of our team, you will work alongside a team of therapy staff, medics, psychologists, support workers, social workers, and welfare and employment workers to provide holistic care to individuals with complex mental health needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and formulate care plans to ensure the safety and well-being of service users.
  • Hold a defined caseload of service users and manage their care delivery, including completing Dialog + assessments and care planning.
  • Participate in adult safeguarding and take on the role of enquiry officer for cases within your caseload.
  • Take on duty person responsibilities and attend daily morning huddles and weekly clinical meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and liaise with other statutory services and partnership agencies.
  • Undertake care act assessments, mental capacity assessments, and participate in best interests decisions.
  • Complete support plans and arrange for funding panel reviews as necessary.
  • Ensure all eligible service users have s117 care plans agreed and completed at point of discharge and referred to funding panel.
  • Take the lead in assessing and addressing service users' physical health needs and support their access to general healthcare and specialisms.
  • Work with partner agencies to meet service users' needs and undertake MHAs if qualified as an AMHP.
  • Manage medications for the team and administer depot injections safely, monitoring compliance, efficacy, and side effects.
  • Ensure stock and individual medications are ordered and stored in a timely manner and correctly.
  • Complete social circumstances reports for detained in-patients and community patients on CTO.
  • Attend Tribunal or Associate Hospital Managers hearings for service users.
  • Take the lead in infection prevention and control and support student nurses and other students as a supervisor and assessor.
  • Supervise Assistant Practitioners when assigned and may be asked to deputise for the team manager.
  • Take on lead or champion roles for specific tasks or areas of the service.
  • Attend monthly supervisions and annual appraisals and complete all statutory and mandatory trainings in a timely manner.
  • Identify learning needs and discuss with your supervisor/line manager and offer orientation, induction, and preceptorship to new staff.
Requirements
  • 2 years post-registration experience in a senior specialist capacity caring for people with psychosis in a community care or inpatient setting.
  • Evidence of further post-registration relevant training or ongoing academic study relevant to the area of practice.
  • Mentorship or recognized teaching and assessing certificate or willingness to undertake.
Desirable
  • Other advanced training, such as AMHP, NMP, or CBT in Psychosis.
  • Awareness of research and evidence of its application in the workplace.
  • Evidence of collaboration in quality improvement initiatives.
