About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our team at St Clare Hospice in Great Dunmow. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for assisting the Shop Manager in leading and managing our charity shop, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and professionalism in the operational running of the shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Shop Manager in leading and managing the shop team, ensuring excellent customer service and a positive shopping experience for our supporters and customers.
- Maximise profits from the sales of donated stock and new goods for St Clare Hospice.
- Support the shop team by providing communication, leadership, support, guidance, and direction in all aspects of their work/volunteering.
- Ensure that all appropriate standards are met, including information governance, data management, Gift Aid Compliance, health and safety, and security.
- Organise and plan own workload and timetable, in consultation with the Shop Manager.
- Communicate with Cluster Manager for the supply of donated and new goods stock, ensuring that adequate stock levels exist in the shop at all times.
- Be aware of high-value items, which may need special attention to select alternative avenues of sale, such as specialist sales and auctions, where the item would achieve a higher profit.
- Maintain a high standard of adherence to all St Clare Policies and Procedures.
- Attend regular meetings and training sessions with the retail team to ensure good practice, underpinned by co-operative relationships and effective communication.
- Work with the Shop Manager or Cluster Manager and Facilities Manager to ensure that the working environments are safe for staff, volunteers, and members of the public.
