About Leicestershire County Council

We are a local government authority committed to delivering high-quality services to our communities. Our Adult Social Care Finance team plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial well-being of adults and children in our care.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Case Officer to join our team as a Adult Social Care Finance Manager. This is a management role that involves ensuring the authority maximises income and determines how much people contribute towards their care and support charges.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the work of Adult Social Care Finance staff, assisting Team Managers by operationally managing and developing staff to provide a quality, customer-focused, accountable, and efficient financial support service for adults and children.

You will also be working with other managers in the team and colleagues from other business areas to deliver an efficient and effective high-quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and resolving complex cases in a timely, sensitive, and effective manner, including retrieving and analysing relevant information and working with clients to resolve specific case issues.
  • Supervising designated staff, allocating and coordinating their workload, providing advice and guidance on operational matters, conducting annual appraisals, and supporting recruitment, deployment, development, attendance, and staff conduct activity.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation, guidance, and national policy on Adult Social Care, state benefits, and pensions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive, up-to-date knowledge of current legislation, guidance, and national policy on Adult Social Care, state benefits, and pensions, and its application in processing case work, associated guidance, and established policy and practice.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the importance of data quality, confidentiality, GDPR, and keeping data safe.
  • Working knowledge of financial assessments, deferred payments, state benefits, pensions, mental capacity assessments, and the Office of Public Guardian.
  • Experience in understanding and applying customer service standards when working and communicating with others.
  • Delivering a quality service without direct supervision and taking supervisory responsibility for service delivery, staff, and resources.
  • Substantial relevant experience in managing a caseload and dealing directly with vulnerable adults, their advocates, and the public.
  • Skilled at managing own time and that of others effectively, ensuring queries or problems are resolved, tasks are completed accurately, and deadlines met.

Salary and Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of £31,074 to £33,294 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus a range of benefits, including flexible working arrangements, opportunities for professional development, and a supportive work environment.
