Job Opportunity

Career Legal is seeking a highly skilled Early Careers Development Advisor to join our client's Early Careers Recruitment and Development team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all HR and performance matters for trainees, working closely with them to support their growth and development during their training contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with BPP Law School on HR issues and logistics related to future trainees
  • Oversee the correct payment of maintenance grants, course fees, and discretionary items, and respond to all future trainee queries
  • Deal with Employee Relations issues that may arise before the trainee starts, such as ill-health, bereavement, or personal issues that may impact their performance and wellbeing
  • Manage and assist with Employee Relations cases, including health and wellbeing, absence, and performance management
  • Oversee the visa process for trainees in liaison with the firm's immigration provider
  • Manage SQE assessments, including booking and results
  • Be the point of contact for all current trainees, Group Trainee Partners, and supervisors, building strong working relationships with the Group Trainee Partners, including the Managing Partner
  • Work with Trainee Recruitment, Learning & Development, Global Mobility, and Business Development to proactively manage the trainee lifecycle
  • Manage the three and six monthly seat move process to meet the firm's resourcing needs while balancing trainee preferences
  • Moderate and review trainee seat reviews to monitor performance
  • Manage the secondment process and review all secondment terms for international and client secondments
  • Co-chair trainee focus groups and lead on ad-hoc trainee projects

The ideal candidate will have previous Development and/or HR experience, be able to manage ER and performance matters, and have experience working at another law firm or similar environment. They will be able to build strong working relationships with Partners, Trainees, the wider HR team, and Universities, and be a team player with a can-do attitude.
