About Our Opportunity

Join our team as a Development Officer for Children and Young People and play a vital role in supporting the development of our Young Wales programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with children and young people, engaging them in participatory opportunities and ensuring their voices are heard.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to support the development of our Young Wales programme, which aims to engage children and young people in the decision-making process. The successful candidate will work closely with our Development Officers to plan and deliver participatory opportunities, such as residentials and advisory boards, to ensure that children's voices are heard.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support the overall development of the Young Wales Programme to ensure children and young people have their voice heard in issues that affect them.
  • To engage with a range of partners and networks to ensure that the Young Wales programme is truly accessible and inclusive of all young people in Wales.
  • To support in the planning and delivery of the Young Wales residential and Young Wales annual festival.
  • To have the opportunity to lead on a project or a workstream,
  • Production of a bi-monthly newsletter style communications for a wide audience in collaboration with the Communications Team.
  • To undertake recording, monitoring and evaluation tasks, and contribute to updates and reports required for Welsh Government officials.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g. social sciences, education).
  • Proven experience of working with children and young people in a participatory capacity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel occasionally.

Salary

The salary for this position is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
