About the role

The purpose of this position is to be the face of Great Western Trains and to provide a positive impression of the company to our customers, exceeding their expectations of customer service.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering a high level of service to customers
  • Assisting in the day-to-day operation of the automatic ticket barriers
  • Ensuring customer security and responding to customer enquiries
  • Inspecting and issuing tickets
  • Addressing customer needs in times of service disruption
  • Ensuring the professional appearance of the gateline area by clearing rubbish and making sure customer walkways are unobstructed

You will need to be:

  • Able to deliver exceptional customer service
  • A self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Confident when decision-making
  • Able to remain calm yet directive under pressure
  • Able to work to strict procedures

About the location

Slough is a busy mainline commuter station with regular services into both London Paddington and Reading. Slough is also popular with tourists travelling on our branch line service to Windsor and Eton Central.

Working pattern

This is a part-time role contracted to work 17.5 hours per week. This role will require you to work a variety of shifts, including early starts and late finishes, as well as weekends and bank holiday working.

Additional information

This role requires shift working, including weekends and bank holidays. Applicants successfully short-listed will be invited to a competency-based interview. Interviews will take place on a date to be confirmed. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, including a drugs and alcohol screen. A Basic DBS is also required.

Training will be provided over a three-week period at our training centre in Swindon.
