Job Description

The successful candidate will provide molecular biology and insectary support to research projects focused on functional genetics in mosquitoes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and maintaining laboratory records of methods, sample details, and results
  • Providing technical services to research teams
  • Undertaking general plasmid cloning and screening procedures
  • Performing basic bioinformatic analysis and plasmid design
  • Injecting mosquito embryos with DNA constructs
  • Assisting with guide RNA design for CRISPR-based genome editing
  • Supporting the rearing of uninfected mosquito colonies in the insectaries
  • Contributing to the development of standard operating procedures and risk assessments

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and experience working as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary research team.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Good knowledge of general principles of molecular biology
  • Hands-on experience with DNA cloning and molecular biology techniques
  • Relevant experience working in a research laboratory and implementing standard laboratory protocols
  • Ability to adapt biological techniques or protocols
