Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention Full time

About the Opportunity:

MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention is seeking a highly skilled Marine Research Scientist to join its team in Liverpool. The successful candidate will be part of the Marine Physics and Ocean Climate research group, working on projects that advance understanding of physical processes controlling seasonal and episodic phytoplankton growth.

The position involves processing, analysing and interpreting multi-parameter observational data sets collected from various platforms, including moorings, gliders and remote sensing. The successful candidate will process and deliver glider data, integrate new data into the CAMPUS project, and compare model output with observations to assess their ability to predict phytoplankton blooms.

The role requires extensive experience in observational physical oceanography, suitable coding skills to process complex datasets, and experience working with ocean glider and mooring data sets. The starting salary for this position will be between £28,200 and £32,430 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

This is a fixed-term appointment initially available for two years, involving national and international travel to attend project meetings and conferences. The successful applicant will have a strong background in oceanography, preferably within a shelf sea environment, and demonstrated experience in multi-disciplinary projects.
