Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist Haematology Training Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Training Officer in Haematology. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the training and competency assessment of new and current Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and MLA staff in Blood Sciences.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and implement training programs for all grades of staff, including Specialist registrars, STP and HSST students, and apprentices.
- Provide continued professional development opportunities for both registered and non-registered technical staff.
- Audit and assess the compliance of staff in line with regulatory body expectations.
- Maintain the training status of the Blood Transfusion and Haematology laboratory in line with IBMS standards.
- Holder of the IBMS Certificate of Competence, Registration Portfolio.
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Training qualification.
- Management/ Quality training.
- Knowledge of higher specialist level in relevant area.
- At least 5 years post HCPC registration in diagnostic Haematology & Blood Transfusion.
- Experience of effectively managing staff.
- Experience of teaching staff.
- Knowledge of current requirements for training and career progression for biomedical scientists and MLAs.
- Advanced scientific knowledge for relevant discipline.
- Detailed understanding of UKAS, Quality Management Systems.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation.
- Good understanding of Governance Requirements.
- Detailed knowledge of MHRA legislation.
- Competent in quality management techniques.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and present data/results/concepts.
- Ability to deliver training in multiple formats reflecting on training needs.
- Hold no reservations in handling human body fluids, tissue, organs, or infected material in accordance with Health & Safety policies.
- The post holder must be willing to have appropriate vaccinations.
