Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist Haematology & Blood Transfusion Training Officer
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Training Lead to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist Haematology & Blood Transfusion Training Officer, you will be responsible for managing the training and competency assessment of new and current Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and MLA staff in Blood Sciences.
Main Responsibilities
The post-holder will be required to efficiently manage the training and competency assessment of staff, be responsible for the documentation and management of electronic training records, and implement training programs for all grades of staff. You will also be responsible for providing continued professional development opportunities for both registered and non-registered technical staff, auditing and assessing compliance with regulatory body expectations, and maintaining the training status of the Blood Transfusion and Haematology laboratory in line with IBMS standards.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- MSc. Biomedical Science or IBMS Special Examination (Fellowship)
- Holder of the IBMS Certificate of Competence, Registration Portfolio
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
- Evidence of continuous professional development
Experience
- At least 5 years post HCPC registration in diagnostic Haematology & Blood Transfusion
Knowledge
- Knowledge of current requirements for training and career progression for biomedical scientists and MLAs
- Advanced scientific knowledge for relevant discipline
- Detailed understanding of UKAS, Quality Management Systems
- Good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation
- Good understanding of Governance Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of MHRA legislation
Skills
- Competent in quality management techniques
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to analyse, interpret and present data/results/concepts
- Ability to deliver training in multiple formats reflecting on training needs
