Mental Health Practitioner for Children and Young People

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to join our team as an Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP). This exciting opportunity is part of our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Slough, working closely with schools and the local community to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in educational settings.
- Assess and support children and young people with more severe problems to access specialist services.
- Collaborate with education staff to identify and manage mental health and wellbeing issues.
- Work with education environments to improve access to specialist mental health services.
- Coordinate and manage a caseload of children and young people with emotional health and wellbeing difficulties in schools.
- Provide training to schools' staff, parents, and carers on mental health and wellbeing.
- Promote whole-school approaches to developing and maintaining emotional health and wellbeing.
- Graduate Certificate or Postgraduate Certificate qualification as an EMHP.
- British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited or British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) EMHP training course.
- Confidence in assessing and delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people.
- Experience working in a school setting and collaborating with colleagues in Early Help and Social Care.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Calm, friendly, and compassionate approach to working with children and young people.
