PhD Researcher in Data-Driven Mechanics

The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join a new project in the field of data-driven mechanics. This exciting opportunity involves the development of experimental methods to obtain large quantities of multi-axial data from a single test, as well as the creation of computational methods to deal with measurement noise.
The project will utilize lab-based flux enhanced tomography for full field measurement of deformation fields and X-ray diffraction measurements of elastic strains. Additionally, data-driven material model discovery techniques will be employed to complement these measurements. The successful candidate will work alongside post-doctoral associates and partner universities in the US.
To be eligible for this studentship, applicants should have a strong interest in multi-physics modelling and/or experimental methods. A high 2.1 degree (preferably a first or its equivalent) in Engineering, Physics, or a related subject is required. This studentship is open to both home and overseas applicants.
