PhD Studentship in Neuroendocrine Cancer Research
1 month ago
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at the University of Cambridge as a PhD student. The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project jointly supervised by Prof Hugh Robinson, in the Department of PDN, and Dr. Philipe Mendonça at AstraZeneca.
The project is focused on understanding the mechanisms of electrical signalling in neuroendocrine cancer cells and how ion channels might be targeted to inhibit their metabolism, proliferation, and invasion. By combining state-of-the-art electrophysiological and imaging techniques, we aim to dissect the roles of different ion channels in controlling the electrical properties of these cells.
As a member of our research group, you will have access to a wide range of training opportunities and benefit from close supervision provided by a primary and secondary PhD supervisor as well as a personal mentor. You will also be encouraged to attend and present at relevant internal and external seminars held within the Dept of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience.
The University actively supports equality, diversity, and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society. We place major emphasis on the importance of teamwork and an enjoyable work environment as a foundation for performing internationally leading research.
