The University of Cambridge Engineering Department is seeking a highly skilled researcher for the prestigious Ashby Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mechanics and Materials.

About the Role

This three-year Fellowship is an excellent opportunity to pursue independent research in mechanics and materials, while contributing to ongoing projects in the university's renowned Mechanics and/or Materials Groups.

Research activities in mechanics and materials are broadly interpreted, allowing you to explore topics such as additive manufacturing, micro- and nano-mechanics, coupled phenomena, and data-based computational methods.

What We Offer

You will be affiliated with Pembroke College, enjoying benefits like dining rights and opportunities to interact with college fellows from diverse disciplines. You will also have the chance to develop your teaching experience by joining tutorials for engineering students in that College.

The position is designed for candidates seeking an academic career in a leading international research university. You must show outstanding promise in experimental and/or theoretical research and have received a PhD recently (within 1 year after 1 October 2022) or be close to receiving one.

Benefits

You will be based in Central Cambridge, UK, with a competitive salary ranging from £36,024 to £44,263 per annum. The post holder will be appointed at Research Associate level, which may be amended to Research Assistant if not yet holding a PhD. A fixed-term contract for 3 years is available initially.
