East Calder, West Lothian, United Kingdom Dogs Trust Full time

Are you passionate about enhancing the welfare of dogs in your community? Do you have experience in dog handling and rehoming?

We are seeking a Fostering Coordinator to oversee the Dogs Trust Fostering Initiative in the local regions. This role will encompass promoting the initiative, recruiting and training volunteer foster caregivers, assessing dogs in need of new homes, and facilitating ongoing evaluations of dogs in foster care.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Fostering Coordinator, your duties will include:

· Advocating for the Home-from-Home initiative to attract volunteers in the local area.

· Conducting interviews and selecting appropriate volunteers, including performing home assessments to ensure a suitable environment.

· Collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator to maintain high volunteering standards.

· Identifying dogs suitable for the Home-from-Home program from relinquishment calls and conducting assessments for foster placements.

· Providing exceptional customer service by discussing dog adoption applications and effectively matching dogs with potential adopters, including translating foster reports and introducing dogs to prospective families safely. This may involve occasional visits to potential adopters' residences to confirm suitability.

Candidate Profile:

You will be self-motivated and possess experience in dog handling and matching them with suitable adopters. Your skills will include screening and assessing dogs for health, behavioral issues, and temperament. Strong communication skills are essential, along with experience in working with volunteers. You will be adept at managing sensitive situations to ensure the best outcomes for both dogs and volunteers.

About Dogs Trust:

Our mission is to ensure that every dog receives the love and care they deserve. We are committed to never euthanizing healthy dogs, focusing instead on supporting dogs in need and their owners. Since our inception, we have become the leading dog charity in the UK, helping thousands of dogs find their forever homes each year.

Team Overview:

As part of the rehoming center team, the Home-from-Home initiative provides care for dogs in the homes of dedicated volunteers. This position will establish and manage a satellite Home-from-Home program to broaden fostering opportunities and enhance our rehoming efforts.

Additional Information:

This role requires travel to various locations to support and promote the fostering initiative. A valid manual driving license is necessary for this position.
