About the Job
This is a Medical Assistant I position in our Neurosurgery department at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients to obtain medical information, measure vital signs, weight, and height, and record their medical history and vital statistics.
- Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens.
- Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keep them neat, clean, and stocked with supplies.
- Comply with all policies and standards, including local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
Requirements
We are seeking candidates with a High School Diploma or Equivalent and basic life support certification preferred. Direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 year is also preferred. You should have comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols, as well as proficiency in electronic health records systems and medical office software.
