Locum Consultant in Gynaecological Medical Oncology

The Christie NHS FT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gynaecological Medical Oncologist to join our team. As a Locum Consultant, you will work closely with our gynaecology team to provide a comprehensive clinical service for patients with gynaecological cancers.
Main Responsibilities- Management of patients with gynaecological cancer receiving standard therapy and in phase I/II/III trials, including treatment decisions and ongoing care.
- Participation in all relevant aspects of clinical governance, including maintaining up-to-date protocols, guidelines, and clinical audit.
- Contribution to current research projects and establishment of new opportunities to expand and develop research within the team.
- Revision and development of evidence-based protocols for patients and undertaking administrative duties associated with patient care.
- Maintenance of a level of continuing professional development consistent with the recommendations of the Royal College of Physicians.
- Active contribution to the training of junior doctors and other multi-disciplinary team members in both in-patient and outpatient departments.
The successful candidate will have access to secretarial support and an adequately equipped office with IT facilities. The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as laid down by the General Medical Council (GMC) and royal colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
Job PlanningThe job plan outlines the requirements of the post and may be altered by joint agreement with the Divisional Clinical Director and Service Manager and in response to service needs. Job Plans are also subject to an annual review as detailed in the Trust's Job Planning Policy.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in gynaecological medical oncology, with experience in managing patients with gynaecological cancers, including those with malignant bowel obstruction. They will also have experience in teaching undergraduates, clinical audit, and management/leadership in a service area. The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, commitment, and team work with colleagues and staff in the department. They should also be able to work under pressure and motivate a team.
The successful candidate will be required to have GMC registration, entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register, and evidence of productive ethical research relevant to oncology. They will also need to have a strong understanding of clinical governance, clinical audit, and research.
