Job Title: Locum Consultant Gynaecology

The Department of Histopathology at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Gynaecology to join their team for a period of 12 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing senior input to all Lymphoma, Gynaecological histopathology work to meet the needs of the service.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide diagnostic tumour pathology services to the Christie NHS Foundation Trust for biopsies and surgical specimens from the theatres, wards, and out-patients in the hospital.
  • Contribute to specimen dissection and provide senior input to all Lymphoma, Gynaecological histopathology work to meet the needs of the service.
  • Share the workload for Skin with the other consultant histopathologists and give input into the relevant multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs).
  • Provide some support to the GI histopathology team, with a desirable familiarity with reporting pseudomyxoma peritonei pathology.
Requirements:
  • FRCPath (part 1 and 2)
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register
  • Evidence of productive ethical research relevant to oncopathology
  • Recent publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Appropriate experience across all disease groups in Histopathology, including Lymphoma, Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal oncology Pathology
Working Environment:

The Department of Histopathology provides diagnostic tumour pathology services to the Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will have office accommodation and access to a secretarial service at the Christie.

The successful candidate will be based at The Christie and will work closely with colleagues to provide input to lymphoma, gynaecological and gastro-intestinal histopathology teams to meet the needs of the service.

The appointee will share the diagnostic workload with the other consultant histopathologists and give input into the relevant multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs).

There is no on-call rota or requirement for weekend work.
