Company Overview

Austin Fraser is seeking a graduate mental health assistant to support and encourage children with social, emotional and mental health needs in an inclusive and diverse specialist school in Salisbury.

The school provides a range of educational programs for pupils with various difficulties, including anxiety, learning difficulties, trauma, ASD, ADHD, OCD, and behavioral challenges. As a graduate mental health assistant, you will help create engaging lessons, promote a safe and supportive classroom environment, and provide behavioral management, personal care, and emotional support as needed.

This full-time position starts ASAP, but the school is open to flexibility if the right candidate comes along. Graduates with qualifications in psychology, criminology, or health and social care are ideal for this role, and a general understanding of welfare and mental health is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and encourage children with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Run engaging lessons and promote a safe and supportive classroom environment
  • Provide behavioral management, personal care, and emotional support as needed

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in psychology, criminology, or health and social care (or related field)
  • General understanding of welfare and mental health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
