About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist to join our Perinatal Psychiatry Service based at St. Nicholas Hospital. The successful candidate will work with our well-established perinatal team to provide senior medical input to the Perinatal Community Team in Tyne & Wear.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold weekly outpatient clinics at St. Nicholas Hospital and Monkwearmouth Hospital, seeing direct referrals from GPs, Psychiatrists, and Obstetricians, or the CPNs in the Perinatal Team.
- Contribute to the consultant on-call rota, which is currently 1 in 16.
- Provide senior medical input to the Perinatal Community Team, collaborating with senior colleagues and taking a lead role in service improvements and development.
Requirements
- Registered as a Specialist in Psychiatry on GMC Specialist Register (or are eligible for such inclusion) or within six months of gaining CCT.
- Approved under the section of the Mental Health Act or equivalent, or willing and eligible to apply for approval.
- Approved Clinician status, or willing and eligible to apply for approval.
