Job Title: Head of Business Development

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Business Development to join our team in the Water industry. This newly formed role will head up all business development, sales, and proposal activities, and be a part of the Operational Management Team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop 5-year strategies and annual plans aligned with the overall business strategy, focusing on business growth and expansion.
  • Project Management: Actively manage project tenders, deciding what to pursue and what to decline, and overseeing the quote preparation/proposals sub-team.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and line management for Market Managers (Stormwater, Biosolids, and Cleanwater) and Area Managers, leading by example and inspiring a culture of excellence.
  • Client Engagement: Attend conferences, organise presentations, and make client visits for sales presentations and solution pitches, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Financial Performance: Own segment financial performance, influencing proposals and pricing, and driving growth in turnover and margin through increased sales and client range.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Proven experience: Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within the Water, Utilities, or Infrastructure sectors is essential, displaying Technical knowledge and proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Strong skills: Strong communication and negotiation abilities, ability to analyse market trends and develop effective sales strategies, and excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
