Nursery Kitchen Assistant Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Phoenix Day Nursery and Preschool in Brentwood, Essex. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of food for our young children.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chef in the preparation and cooking of healthy, age-appropriate meals for the children.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to internal and external health and safety standards.
  • Support the Chef in managing kitchen budgets and stock levels.
  • Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health, and safety, and safeguarding.
  • Work with colleagues to maintain a positive and happy environment for the children and staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting.
  • Possession of a Food Safety CIEH L2 qualification or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of COSHH and ability to manage different dietary requirements.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
