Make a difference with South Gloucestershire Council

The Transactional Support team works closely with the Council's finance sections and shares a fully integrated Financial Management System.

As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the invoice system to ensure that all processes flow efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing and verifying creditor invoices, credit notes, and other payment documents to ensure timely payment to Council suppliers.
  • Ensuring invoices match pre-authorised orders or are sent for approval via department finance teams.
  • Managing the supplier database to prevent duplication and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Checking and processing electronic payments received from feeder systems, verifying control totals, and transferring documents to the main financial management system in a timely manner.

What we're looking for

  • NVQ 2 or 3 GCSEs grades 4 or above or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience in Accounts Payable.
  • Good communication skills, confidence, decision-making abilities, and the ability to work independently.
  • Well-developed IT skills, including Word, Excel, and the ability to be trained on the use of a large shared, multi-customer, integrated financial management system.
  • Budget monitoring or numeracy skills are desirable but not essential.

This is an internal only role, restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council.
