Job Overview
South Gloucestershire Council is a dynamic organisation that aims to make a positive impact on the future of the region. We are seeking an experienced Transformation Specialist to join our Transformation Team, where you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our Children's Improvement Programme.
The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills and be able to gather and collate project progress information from responsible officers, undertake analysis, and prepare governance reports. You will also run small and medium-sized projects to deliver service improvement and better value for money services for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake research and gather information around approaches adopted, successes, issues, organisational data, and performance data from other local authorities, public organisations, and private sector, relevant to specific projects.
- Collate programme information such as costs, progress, issues, and actions for senior managers at programme meetings.
- Provide specialist advice and offer accurate timely information to a range of customers, partner organisations, employees, key stakeholders, departments, and managers in a range of formats ensuring policies meet legislative requirements and codes of practice.
- Review and resolve any issues accurately and efficiently, relating to budgets, financial information or resources for the area of specialism making sure that targets are met, reports are prepared and delivered, data is managed effectively and corrective action is taken when necessary.
- Provide specialist advice and information to a range of customers, maintaining a high-quality and consistent service to customers where agreed standards are achieved across a wide range of services, Service Level Agreements are adhered to, and that ownership is taken for responding and resolving queries, complaints, and requests from initial contact.
Requirements
- You will have a relevant professional or equivalent degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Having experience of working in a business environment delivering similar services, you will demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience of contributing to developing processes, procedures, and projects.
- It is essential that you have excellent communication, influencing, and analytical skills with an ability to make things clear and simple to understand and have well-developed interpersonal skills for persuading, influencing, and building relationships and communicating effectively with customers.
- To be successful in the role, you will require good analytical skills to help understand and analyse information, be able to understand and interpret complex data, and provide solutions and recommendations to achieve appropriate outcomes and present it in a user-friendly way.
- You will have the ability to monitor and/or report on budgets, financial information, and resources and have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use appropriate specialist in-house software packages.
- It is desirable that you have specific experience in supporting project work in areas such as organisational improvement, value for money, performance management, project/programme management, and other similar initiatives would be advantageous.
About the Role
This is a limited-term contract due to end 31 March. The salary for this position is £38,000 - £42,000 per annum. As a Transformation Specialist at South Gloucestershire Council, you will have the opportunity to work in a supportive team, lead transformation across council services, and contribute to delivering improved outcomes for our residents.
