Job Description

About the Role

This position is an excellent opportunity to join South Gloucestershire Council as a Financial Operations Coordinator, responsible for maintaining the invoice system to ensure efficient processing and verification of creditor invoices, credit notes, and other payment documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process daily transactions, including creditor invoices, credit notes, and electronic payments received from feeder systems.
  • Verify control totals, transfer documents to the main financial management system, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Manage the supplier database, preventing duplication and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations regarding sub-contractor payments, employment status, and VAT compliance.
  • Collaborate with department finance teams to ensure that invoices match pre-authorised orders or are sent for approval.

Requirements

  • NVQ 2 or 3 GCSEs grades 4 or above or equivalent qualification in Accounts Payable.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and willing to be trained on the use of the integrated financial management system.
  • Budget monitoring or numeracy skills are a plus.

Estimated Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
