About the Role

The Adolescent Safeguarding Manager will oversee a team of social workers in delivering statutory social work services to adolescents aged 13-17 who have been referred due to contextual harm. This includes child criminal or sexual exploitation and serious youth violence.

The team works closely with police, education, and health partners to develop strategies and deliver robust responses to harm in the community. The manager will respond to referrals in a timely manner, allocate assessments, and chair strategies as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing contacts and referrals across a wide spectrum of contextual safeguarding needs
  • Allocating assessments and chairing strategies as required
  • Supporting social workers to identify risk and establish safety early on in the assessment
  • Carrying out investigations as required
  • Ensuring visits are carried out as required and social workers deliver meaningful direct work and interventions

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a social work manager who is passionate about working alongside young people and their families to reduce exploitation and harm in the community. You will have experience in identifying risks both in the home and community, analysing information from a wide range of sources to formulate clear direction and support to social workers.

You will be skilled at delivering direct work and able to support social workers in their direct work with adolescents to support them to identify positive life goals, understand and respond to risk safely, and have healthy relationships.

You will work well with other professionals such as the police, schools, and health partners to ensure the best services are offered to some of the most vulnerable young people in the area.
