Job Description:

At Leonardo, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Supportability Engineer to join our multi-discipline engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the supportability characteristics of our radar systems are aligned with our customers' operational and support needs.

The Supportability function is a unique aspect of our business, involved in all stages of a programme, from bid to development, production, customer support, and disposal. We draw engineers from various disciplines, including electronic, mechanical, and systems engineering, to enhance our Supportability Team.

As a Senior Supportability Engineer, you will be actively involved in analysing, assessing, and influencing the supportability characteristics and performance of our next-generation products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with Integrated Project Teams to deliver Supportability Engineering (SE) work packages covering Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability (RM&T) analysis, Support Strategy planning, and modelling.
  • Using various analytical techniques and procedures to perform RM&T analysis on integrated systems.
  • Working closely with systems, mechanical, software, RF, electronics, and safety engineers to identify and avoid real support-related problems on complex systems, before they reach the customer.
  • Using your engineering talent to grow and develop the supportability community and core skills base.
  • Contributing to continuous process/procedural improvements to help drive out the cost and reputational consequence of failure.
  • Understanding the customers' operational needs to guide the development of equipment capable of meeting the needs of future operational environments.
  • Contributing to IPT and Engineering Unit decision-making.
  • Supervising engineers.
  • Providing guidance on through-life cost of ownership.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing more junior members of the team.
  • Providing domain experience in support of customer and user engagement and product roadmaps.

We are particularly interested in speaking to candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Working knowledge of RMT analysis techniques on electronic, power, RF, mechanical, and mixed technology systems.
  • Equipment Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) data collection and analysis
  • Safety Hazard Identification and Safety Management inc Fault Tree Analysis
  • Support Strategy Planning, LORA utilising support modelling tools (eg OPUS)
  • Bids and Proposals support in provision of information and analysis in a 'Merchant Supply' environment
  • Familiar with statistical data analysis.
  • Creation of beneficial relationships with cross-functional colleagues, customers, and suppliers

Our team uses PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability; Reliasoft; OPUS; Simlox; Matlab / Simulink; Jira and Python, and although expertise is not essential, familiarity with some would be beneficial.
