Job Description:

At Leonardo, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Supportability Engineer to join our multi-discipline engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the supportability characteristics of our radar systems are aligned with our customers' operational and support needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reliability, maintainability, and testability (RMT) analysis, as well as experience in support strategy planning and modeling. You will work closely with our systems, mechanical, software, RF, electronics, and safety engineers to identify and mitigate potential support-related issues on complex systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with integrated project teams to deliver supportability engineering work packages, including RMT analysis, support strategy planning, and modeling.
  • Apply analytical techniques and procedures to perform RMT analysis on integrated systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and avoid real support-related problems on complex systems.
  • Develop and grow the supportability community and core skills base.
  • Contribute to continuous process and procedural improvements to drive out cost and reputational consequences of failure.
  • Understand customers' operational needs to guide the development of equipment capable of meeting future operational environments.
  • Contribute to IPT and engineering unit decision-making.
  • Supervise engineers and provide guidance on through-life cost of ownership.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop more junior members of the team.
  • Provide domain expertise in support of customer and user engagement and product roadmaps.

Requirements:

  • Relevant engineering or science degree.
  • Industry, defense, or relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of RMT analysis techniques on electronic, power, RF, mechanical, and mixed technology systems.
  • Equipment failure modes effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS) data collection and analysis.
  • Safety hazard identification and safety management, including fault tree analysis.
  • Support strategy planning, LORA, utilizing support modeling tools (e.g., OPUS).
  • Bids and proposals support in provision of information and analysis in a 'merchant supply' environment.
  • Familiarity with statistical data analysis.
  • Creation of beneficial relationships with cross-functional colleagues, customers, and suppliers.

We use a range of tools, including PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability, Reliasoft, OPUS, Simlox, Matlab/Simulink, Jira, and Python. While expertise is not essential, familiarity with some of these tools would be beneficial.
