About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Sales Director to lead our MICE sales team at Apex Hotels. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for developing and retaining new business, growing profitability, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strengthen relationships with key MICE customers and identify opportunities to increase penetration and maximize profit.
  • Understand the competitive MICE landscape and implement strategies to shift share.
  • Generate MICE revenue growth through consultative selling and relationship-building.
  • Lead effective team selling efforts to translate MICE agreements into actualized business.
  • Direct the strategic relationship of preferred partners to maximize market share and ancillary revenues.
  • Research and establish new business sales contacts, develop relationships, and distribution opportunities.
  • Manage a team of regional MICE sales managers and executives to achieve individual and departmental goals.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of agent and end-user booker accounts and work with the Group Director of Sales to create bespoke MICE offerings.
  • Create and deliver strong presentations to demonstrate the Apex value proposition and benefits.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of MICE accounts and work with operational teams to personalize interactions.
  • Lead the annual negotiation of preferred partnerships and targets all MICE accounts.
  • Update Event & Group Managers and respective teams with correct information regarding agency partnerships, commission, and offers.
  • Work closely with Heads of Event & Groups teams to deliver strategic plans and ensure the delivery of MICE budgets.
  • Create and fulfill Account Development plans for key accounts.
  • Plan and execute sales activity, including research, telesales, site/hotel show rounds, entertaining, and client road shows.
  • Analyze monthly MICE pick-up production and take action where necessary.
  • Contribute to monthly and annual business review reports on the MICE market and industry.
  • Attend relevant and appropriate networking and trade show events and ensure follow-up is done post-event.
  • Assist and support with ad-hoc projects as required by the Group Director of Sales.
About You

We are looking for a natural communicator with a passion for customer service and satisfaction. You will be proactive, show initiative, and have a proven track record in motivating and developing a sales and events team to deliver creative solutions to maximize revenue.

You will be friendly and approachable, willing to go the extra mile for our guests, and support our culture of delivering a 'warmer welcome' through leading by example.

You will have:

  • Validated multi-property experience in the specific MICE sales areas.
  • Highly experienced in all administrative skills with excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Proactive at meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Manages all resources within budgeted guidelines.
  • Highly numerate and able to work comprehensively with spreadsheets and budgeting processes.
  • Motivational team manager who can communicate well at all levels.
  • Flexibility to regularly facilitate the entertainment of MICE agents/client and familiarization trips.
  • Annual international travel to key MICE trade shows, client offices, and emerging business markets.
  • Regular regional travel across all geographical areas of the portfolio.
