Painter & Decorator - Care Home Setting

Havencourt Care Home is seeking a skilled and dedicated Painter & Decorator to join our team on a bank contract basis.
In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the high standards of our care home environment. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring the building and its equipment are kept in excellent condition, prioritizing the safety and comfort of both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess areas requiring painting and plan accordingly.
- Safely erect scaffolding, work platforms, and ladders as needed.
- Prepare work areas by protecting surfaces not requiring paint and ensuring a clean workspace.
- Thoroughly prepare surfaces for painting, including removing old paint, leveling imperfections, and filling cracks or holes.
- Apply interior and exterior paints using brushes, rollers, and other appropriate tools.
- Execute artistic decorations, effects, and patterns as required.
- Apply coatings, coverings, and claddings to external walls.
- Apply varnishes for a durable finish.
- Inspect painted surfaces meticulously and rectify any flaws or defects.
- Remove tools and supports, ensuring the work area is clean and organized.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform minor repairs to maintain the building's integrity.
- Check control panels and electrical wiring for potential issues.
- Install appliances and equipment as needed.
- Contribute to general upkeep of the grounds, including mowing lawns and collecting trash.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
- Maintain, service, clean, and store equipment properly.
- Ensure the functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
- Inspect and repair any damages to building surfaces promptly.
- Participate in various projects, including renovations, as required.
- Report any maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager.
- Adhere to quality standards and health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications & Experience:
- SVQ Painting and Decorating qualification.
- A consistent and successful work history in a similar role.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in care homes or large facilities is highly beneficial.
