Job Title: Breastfeeding Support Specialist

Salary: £21,658 per annum

Hours: 12 hours per week

Contract: Fixed Term

We are seeking an organised and proactive team member to support our breastfeeding project in Glasgow.

This role involves delivering face-to-face support to families in neonatal units throughout the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.

About the Role

  • Support volunteers to assist families within the neonatal wards.
  • Provide informal breastfeeding support to mothers in line with the NCT peer support code of conduct.
  • Collaborate with NHS GGC Healthcare Professionals to review and monitor as required.
  • Participate in reflective discussions with the Neonatal Infant Feeding Lead as necessary.
  • Report any concerns or additional support needs to the management team for referral.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships with a wide range of people.

This is a large project covering multiple locations, so you must be highly organised and able to work independently.

You will need to undertake training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter and Neonatal Peer Supporter, requiring at least 3 months' breastfeeding experience.

The role may include occasional evening and weekend work.

Estimated Salary Range: £20,000 - £25,000 per annum
