Job Overview

As a key member of the Early Intervention Team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis or at risk of developing a psychosis. You will work closely with clients, their families, and carers to provide high-quality care and support.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, formulating, and implementing care plans for service users. This will involve working in a variety of community settings, liaising with other services, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will have the opportunity to work with clients in their own homes, clinics, or other environments, such as hostels, supported living, prisons, and residential and nursing homes. Your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with colleagues will be essential for success in this role.

Requirements
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Occupational Therapist, or Social Work registration
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience relevant to the role
Desirable Criteria
  • Approved Mental Health Practitioner qualification
  • Mentorship or Practice Leadership qualification
Essential Experience
  • Experience of giving clinical supervision
  • Experience of working effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of working with clients with serious mental illness and their families/carers
  • Experience of care coordinating complex packages of care
  • Experience of conducting high-quality risk assessments and implementing risk management plans
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in early intervention for psychosis, e.g., specialist placement, previous employment in the early intervention service, participation in a research trial, or personal experience
  • Experience in the use of psychosis-specific semi-structured interviews, such as PANSS, CAARMS, or PSYRATS
  • Experience of managing Community Treatment Orders
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of the ethos and philosophy of early interventions to support clinical practice
  • A high level of knowledge around early intervention for psychosis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with colleagues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
