Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled CBT Therapist to join our innovative Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist CBT services to promote recovery and valued living for individuals with an At Risk Mental State (ARMS) and First Episode Psychosis (FEP).

Main Duties of the Job

As a CBT Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality psychology assessments, formulation, interventions, and consultation to clients with ARMS and FEP. You will also collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team (MDT) colleagues to provide a biopsychosocial treatment programme for clients. Additionally, you will support the delivery of Family Intervention and assist the lead clinician in coordinating referrals to therapies within the EIS Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver CBT services to promote recovery and valued living for individuals with ARMS and FEP
  • Collaborate with MDT colleagues to provide a biopsychosocial treatment programme for clients
  • Support the delivery of Family Intervention
  • Assist the lead clinician in coordinating referrals to therapies within the EIS Service
  • Provide CBT perspective within the team and provide consultation to MDT colleagues
  • Carry out service-related development and project work under the direction of the lead psychological therapist
  • Supervise and teach unqualified staff, including students

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced CBT Therapist who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Qualification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to Post-graduate Diploma level and Accreditation with the BABCP (or working towards accreditation via KSF route or equivalent)
  • Further short courses and experience to Masters Level
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Desirable Criteria

We welcome applications from candidates who possess the following desirable criteria:

  • Core Mental Health Professional qualification
  • Post graduate qualification in CBT for Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder
  • Supervisor qualifications
Experience

We are seeking a CBT Therapist with significant experience of clinical work in mental health, covering clients with a range of complex presentations and across the age range. You will have received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within the scope of your practice. Additionally, you will have experience of multi-disciplinary team working and have received CBT supervision.

Knowledge

We are looking for a CBT Therapist with a high level of knowledge about evidence-based psychological therapies (including cognitive behaviour therapy and family intervention) for psychosis and anxiety disorders. You will also have knowledge about applying and adapting cognitive behaviour therapy to adolescents.

Skills and Abilities

We require a CBT Therapist who possesses the following skills and abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • High level of clinical skills to apply evidence-based psychological interventions to a range of presenting problems in adolescents and adults
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve
  • Ability to work independently to identify and manage risk
  • Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work-Related Circumstances

We require a CBT Therapist who is interested in working with people considered to be at a high risk of developing psychosis. You will be required to work flexibly to meet client needs and be willing to engage in training to meet the needs of this client group.
